U-turn by Chairman on support for NEPPC position

NEPPC wishes to put on record its surprise and disappointment at recent statements made by the Chairman of Meath County Council, Mr John V Farrelly regarding the renewed plans by EirGrid to string over 400 pylons across the North-East, ignoring the huge community opposition to its plans and refusing to examine the feasible, affordable and acceptable alternative of using underground cable technology.

Landowners’ fury at latest Eirgrid Meath-Tyrone 400 kV overhead power line proposals

NEPPC held a landowners meeting in Knightsbrook, Trim on Wednesday 31st July, following the recent publication by EirGrid of its ‘Preferred Project Solution’ Report and the sending out to landowners of detailed maps with pylon locations and access routes.

The meeting was well attended by landowners from Meath, Cavan and Monaghan. The tone of the meeting was one of anger and frustration with Eirgrid and the Government, but also a tone of solidarity and resilience in refusing to allow the proposed giant pylons ever being constructed on their land under any circumstances.
